About

ENNA Studios is a textile and knitwear studio founded by Enna Ikuta in Miami.

Trained in Textiles at the Rhode Island School of Design, Ikuta approaches clothing through material first. Each piece begins with an investigation into fiber, structure and surface—how a material stretches, falls, reflects light, conceals the body or allows it to be seen.

Working with domestic knitting machines alongside hand-construction techniques, she develops textiles and garments together rather than treating fabric as a predetermined surface. Natural fibers such as silk and cotton are combined with specialty materials when their particular properties allow for effects that could not otherwise be achieved.

Every garment is designed and made by Ikuta in the studio. Variations in material, construction and finish are embraced as part of the process, resulting in one-of-one and made-to-order pieces that retain the hand of their maker.

ENNA Studios sits between clothing and textile practice, creating garments as both objects to be worn and studies in material, form and the body.
